Every year for the last 10, comedian Andy Kindler has delivered what the Just For Laughs festival dubs as “The State of the Industry Address.” While some comedians are called a “comic’s comic,” Andy is more like a “comic’s critic.” He routine is often about the conventions of the comedy world and he usually rips apart some of the folks he considers mucking up the scene. Here are some of Andy’s most memorable comments from the 2005 State of the Industry address:

“I hope everyone’s ‘getting ‘er done’ this year.”

“During the Michael Jackson trial, the judge put a gag order on Jay Leno telling any jokes. If I knew that was possible, I would have spent the last 10 years in court filing papers.”

“What’s wrong with [Comedy Central show] Mind of Mencia is that they picked the least funny body part of Carlos Mencia.”

“Why can’t the laughter at [L.A. club] the Laugh Factory be outsourced?”

“Kathy Griffin calls herself a ‘D-List celebrity’ and I say ‘Don’t sell yourself long.”

“If [co-stars of CBS sitcom Still Standing] Mark Addy and Jami Gertz were on the science channel hosting a show on chemists, there would still be no chemistry between them.”

“I don’t know how they come up with this stuff at CBS… besides putting it through a photocopier.”
