Nobody Walks in LA?

I don’t understand how people in LA tolerate the traffic situation, but I guess its the NYC equivalent of unpredictable weather. Today, apparently the premiere of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” snarled street traffic. It was so bad that a friend spent 1 hour and 15 minutes driving 2 miles from the DGA building on Sunset to Hollywood. Incredible. I walked nearly the same distance in about 25 minutes, after enduring looks of shock and horror today when telling someone I’ve been traveling by foot here in L.A.

Like the New York weather, traffic troubles are often how most conversations begin. A few minutes ago here at a Starbucks on Sunset and La Brea, a woman at the counter was still stumped as to how to get over the hill to Burbank; she and the Starbucks employees stopped all customer activity for about 5 minutes as they discussed a suitable travel route…
