Here! Plans Simultaneous Release of Margaret Cho's "Assassin" In Theaters and On TV

Comedienne Margaret Cho‘s new concert film “Assassin” will be simultaneously released in theaters and on television throughout the United States, according to an announcement from here! Tuesday. Filmed in May in Washington D.C., the performance film will debut in theaters on September 2nd through a theatrical release, as well as airing on television via satellite and through video-on-demand service. Proceeds from the theatrical run of the film will benefit the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force.

The film, taped during a stop on the Cho’s 2005 tour, will be available to 42 million households on television, and in eight U.S. markets on the big screen, including New York City (Quad Cinema), Los Angeles (Regent Showcase), Philadelphia (The Ritz), Dallas (Regent Highland Park); San Francisco (Roxie Theater); San Jose (Camera 7 Cinema); Long Island (Cinema Arts Centre, Huntington, NY); and Palm Springs (Cinemas Palme d’Or). A special gala premiere in LA later this month will be presented in association with Outfest, the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.
