[EDITORS NOTE: The following is an announcement from indieWIRE.]

indieWIRE has partnered with Emerging Pictures to take undistributed films to cities across the United States. Using digital technology, Undiscovered Gems will bring six to ten films culled from indieWIRE’s annual list of the best undistributed films to at least 12 cities nationwide. The official selection of films chosen for syndication will be announced this fall.

indieWIRE named 15 films to its 2004 list of best undistributed films, including: Liz Mermin‘s “The Beauty Academy of Kabul,” Pjer Zalica‘s “Days and Hours” (Kod amidze Idriza), Shane Meadows‘ “Dead Man’s Shoes,” Bryan Poyser‘s “Dear Pillow,” Debra Granik‘s “Down to the Bone,” Fernando Eimbcke‘s “Duck Season,” Lu Mao Tze‘s “Duck Season,” Liu Fen Dou‘s “The Green Hat,” David Flamholc‘s “House of the Tiger King,” Lucile Hadzihalilovic‘s “Innocence,” Jessica Hausner‘s “Hotel,” Jonathan Stack‘s “Liberia: An Uncivil War,” Lisandro Alonso‘s “Los Muertos,” Alain Guiraudie‘s “No Rest for the Brave,” and Andrew Wagner‘s “The Talent Given Us.”

For the past two years indieWIRE has presented Undiscovered Gems in partnership with the California Film Institute, bringing many of the films, selected by indieWIRE’s editors and writers, to the big screen at the Rafael Film Center in San Rafael, CA.

Emerging Cinemas, the New York-based digital cinema network founded by Ira Deutchman, Giovanni Cozzi and Barry Rebo in 2003 recently syndicated films from the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival and recently announced a partnership with the Film Society of Lincoln Center‘s Latinbeat 2005, with the plan to take curated selections across the country using their theatrical consortium, Emerging Cinemas.
