Silent 6 Sunday

Silent 6 Sunday

You’re in Austin? You around Sunday night? You like live music and/or silent films?

I recently spoke to a class at UT (always surreal when you’re a guest speaker at a class you yourself had four years earlier)… and they are undertaking a special class project. What is it… well, I’ll let them explain:

SILENT 6 CINEMA Micro-Film Festival
WHEN: Sun Aug 7, 8 PM
WHERE: Chuggin’ Monkey (219 East 6th Street)

The University of Texas at Austin, in combination with Cauleen Smith’s Film Festival Programming course, presents the Silent 6 Cinema micro-film festival, bringing live local musicians and classic silent films together. The featured artists have prepared their own musical sets to re-score the silent short films, providing a truly unique audience experience. “We really felt like Austin needs a sort of music and film hybrid,” says assistant professor Cauleen Smith in the Radio / Television / Film department at UT. “And this micro-festival, which my students created, seemed to be the perfect bridge to the currently existing gap.”
