ACL Fest 2005.1

ACL Fest 2005.1

Moments from the first day of the 2005 Austin City Limits Music Festival:

(SXSW’s Jarod Neece on the walkie, backstage at the Austin City Limits Music Festival.)

(On the AMD stage, early in the day, Kasabian put on an amazing show in sweltering heat.)

(Shortly before their fun performance, Shane and Glynn from Nic Armstrong & The Thieves and their New West label chief Jay Woods, hang out backstage.)

(At the gospel and blues tent, reggae act Morgan Heritage plays to the enthusiastic crowd.)

(Drawing probably a larger crowd than anyone expected, Thievery Corporation fit in perfectly with the outdoor festival vibe. Mixing DJs, MCs, and more, it was a worldbeat/trip-hop love-in.)

(Late in the afternoon, the Austin Chronicle hosted a cocktail party near the festival, at the American Legion Hall. It was a really great detour from the day’s activities. Here’s me and Chronicle editor/SXSW co-founder Louis Black. Photo by Beth Sepko.)

(Brit-pop trio Keane played a powerful show, as the sun set behind them.)
