ACL Fest 2005.3

ACL Fest 2005.3

Final moments from the final day of the 2005 Austin City Limits Music Festival:

ACLjane.jpg
(Late-night Saturday was the Jane magazine party in South Austin. Featuring members of Bloc Party spinning as DJs, the dancefloor was busy early on.)

ACLjerm.jpg
(A reliable dancefloor staple anywhere, Jerm Pollet of The Sinus Show, stands center stage at the party with Flicker’s Cory Ryan, right.)

ACLmic.jpg
(The scene from one of the stages, as I prepared to introduce the astonishing French group M83.)

ACLpong.jpg
(Cult-favorite Austin band Pong got into the showman spirit with their show on the Austin Ventures stage.)

ACLrachael.jpg
(Rachael Yamagata, far right, played to thousands from the AMD stage. When she played the festival last year, there was maybe a third of the attendance. What a difference a year makes.)

ACLbrad.jpg
(Filmmaker Brad Beesley hangs out in the Media Lounge with the manager for indie-rock band Ambulance LTD. Brad was with the band during the festival, filming them for an upcoming ACL project.)

ACLkaiser.jpg
(Members of “it” band Kaiser Chiefs, left, take part in an interview with local radio station 101X. The band then managed a typically terrific live performance.)

ACLarcade.jpg
(Win Butler, of the Arcade Fire, takes a moment to get some air during the sweltering heat. True to tradition, the band still wore full suits in temperatures that climbed over 100 degrees. But, honestly, what the Arcade Fire did onstage was a classic moment of performance and performance art. If you weren’t there, you missed out, big time.)

ACLdust.jpg
(The sun eventually set, but the dust never went away. A first for the ACL fest, the dryness – partly caused by Hurricane Rita – caused massive dust clouds throughout. Many people used bandanas to help them breathe… this couple, though, went one step further. Evidently, like much of the crowd, they still had a great time.)

ACLend.jpg
(As Coldplay wraps up the festival behind her, ACL Fest’s Sarah George – center – preps for an interview with News 8 Austin. Great job, everyone involved.)
