Earlier this week, a few acquisitions execs were fishing around for clues to this year’s Telluride Film Festival lineup, wondering if there would be many “hot prospects” among this year’s 20 or so new features that will screen at the weekend fest. But Telluride is not about that I tried to explain. This is the one festival where attendees don’t need to anwer the question “What did you think of a film?” with an analysis of its “marketability”. Its a retreat to somehow escape all that.
So with such lofty ambitions, this afternoon I am off to the 2005 Telluride Film Festival. After two plane flights and a two hour shuttle ride I’ll be in the small mountain ready to escape to the movies. Founders Bill Pence and Tom Luddy maintain a policy of keeping the full fest lineup secret until just hours before the event begins, so keep an eye out for that announcement later today on indieWIRE.com.
