Ojai Unveils Plans; Welcomes "March of the Penguins" Director and to Honor Gena Rowlands

The Ojai Film Festival has announced a slate of 50 films for its upcoming four-day event in the picturesque community 90 miles north of Los Angeles. Kicking off with a welcoming BBQ for participants on Thursday, October 20 at 5 p.m., the festival will then provide a free community screening of “March of the Penguins,” with director Luc Jacquet in attendance. The free outdoor screening begins at 7:30 p.m. in Ojai’s Libbey Park will give attendees an opportunity to meet Jacquet who will discuss his filmmaking process and the challenges of capturing the “real-life love story” of the Antarctic’s Emperor Penguin on film. Additionally, the festival will present Lifetime Achievement Awards to actress Gena Rowlands (“A Woman Under the Influence“), director Arthur Hiller (“Love Story“) and the Laemmle Family, principals of the Laemmle Theatres chain.
