Raindance Closes 13th Fest with Jakubowicz's "Secuestro Express" and Awards

Over 80 features and 130 shorts were screened over 12 days at this year’s Raindance Film Festival, with Jeff Feuerzeig‘s “The Devil and Daniel Johnston” opening the event September 28th. Jury prizes were announced Sunday at the Cineworld Haymarket in London prior to the closing night screening of Venezuelan director Jonathan Jakubowicz‘s kidnap thriller “Secuestro Express.” Among the winners were Japanese film “Canary,” which won the festival’s Official Selection feature prize, while French film, “A Monk’s Awakening” took the award in the shorts category. Best U.K. feature went to “Rollin’ with the Nines” and best debut feature went to American feature, “The Gingerbread Man.” Best doc went to British film, “Punk: Attitude.” [Brian Brooks]
