First Look Gets "Fish"

Following a recent announcement that Ruth Vitale has joined the company as its new president, First Look Studios has acquired the Australian hit “Little Fish,” starring Cate Blanchett and directed by Rowan Woods. The film will open in March. The film won four Australian Film Institute Awards and has broken box office records Down Under. The film is described as “a powerful drama about breaking free. Trying to escape her drug addicted past, Tracy Heart (Blanchett) is seduced into one last criminal venture by her brother and ex-boyfriend as she struggles towards a better life.” It was written by Jacquelin Perske and produced by Vincent Sheehan and Liz Watts of Porchlight Films and Richard Keddie. The company will release the upcoming Sundance film “The Proposition“, also from Australia. [Eugene Hernandez]
