Florida 2006.2: Sneezy and Doc

Slow start to the day today, following a festival party and then some drinking at a local Irish pub afterwards. Tim League and Mike Akel are off at Gator Land today. I couldn’t join them, unfortunately. Nathan Zellner and I, though, are very tempted to make a road trip to Gibtown, the town of carny residents (you read that right) who had a documentary made about them a few years ago…

(In between screenings, I grabbed a nice dinner with Festival Documentary Jurors Heidi Reinberg, left, and Marisa Keselica, right. Heidi is a veteran documentary filmmaker, currently working on Gender Rebel for the LOGO network. She’s also a native Texan now in New York, so we’ve been bonding. Marisa, a film pal, works at the soon-to-be-closed theatrical division of Wellspring.)

(Austin filmmaker Nathan Zellner, as we’re leaving the “V.I.P. Party” at the Winter Park Farmers Market. Nathan, in town for his short Redemptitude, is mugging for the camera in a mock attempt to taunt his brother David, who was unable to attend the festival this year.)

(On Thursday night, the festival attendees headed over to local college bar, Fiddler’s. Here’s filmmaker Jeff Mahler, director of the very cool feature called Inside. Jeff was celebrating a great screening, a nice endorsement from Aint It Cool News.)
