Defamer has posted a pretty amusing story, taken from the Chicago Sun-Times, detailing an unfortunate (yet funny) accident performed by a high school in Ogden, Utah. Long story short: They thought they were booking Daily Show host Jon Stewart as a guest speaker at their annual gala, and instead booked Jon A. Stewart, “a 39-year-old former motivational speaker, businessmen and part-time professional wrestler from Deerfield.” Seriously. The wrong Stewart called back to confirm, the school assured him, and he paid his own way to Utah.
Once the mistake was discovered, the school had already sold 700 tickets at 50 bucks a pop. As last-minute replacements, the school booked the Weber State University’s jazz & symphonic wind ensembles and “comedian” Johnny Biscuit. Seriously. Defamer had this to add to their post
The school accepted that they’d have to set their sights much lower and take painstaking precautions in their scramble to book a replacement. Happily, the Tara Reid advertising her speaking services on a MySpace account turned out to be the actual Tara Reid, and the audience of 700-strong hung on every word of her mostly slurred lecture topic, “Hell Yeah, I Want Salt With That!: My Life on the Margarita’s Edge.”
