Introducing… Sway

Introducing... Sway

SXSW 2006 featured some buzzworthy hip-hop performances from the likes of proven names like Chamillionaire, Ghostface Killah, Talib Kweli, and more… but one of the names that those in-the-know kept murmuring during SXSW was “Sway.” Not to be confused with MTV’s hip-hop VJ, Sway Dasafo is a British rapper that has achieved hit status back home and is just now launching an attack on the States. Will he be the Robbie Williams of American hip-hop? Or live in the American hip-hop underground like Dizzee Rascal or The Streets? Honestly, in my opinion, if any British rapper coming to America had a shot at competing against the L.A., NYC, and Dirty South kings, it would be Sway. Get an update on the man with this piece on MTV News. An excerpt:

“This is my message to the people of America,” he said. “I’m not Oliver Twist, I’m not the Spice Girls, I’m not anybody you’ve ever seen before, so make sure you buy my album, otherwise I’ll come over there and do absolutely nothing. Sway.”
