North American Premiere of "Lassie" to Open Sprockets Fest in Toronto

The North American premiere of “Lassie,” directed and adapted by Charles Sturridge (“Where Angels Fear to Tread“) and based on Eric Knight‘s classic novel Lassie Come Home, will open the Sprockets Toronto International Film Festival for Children Friday, April 21. Lassie, or the latest incarnation of the famous pooch, will walk the red carpet, opening the ten-day event. The festival, organized by the Toronto International Film Festival Group, which also produces the annual Toronto International Film Festival in September, will screen 122 films in 18 languages from 29 countries including 40 world, international, or North American premieres. Sprockets will close April 30 with Canadian filmmaker Peter Moss‘ “Booky Makes Her Mark” about a girl hoping to prove against the odds that she can fulfill her dream of being a writer.
