Cannes 2006.2: The Full Monte Carlo

The first full day at Cannes was a nice one, more and more folks arrived to town and I got a chance to walk about the Croisette and check out the Palais, get my credentials, etc. Our remaining roommates, Raj Roy and Anne Hubbell, also arrived. By the time everyone was collected, we ventured off to Monte Carlo for the launch party of a new festival, the International Emerging Talent Film Festival (IETFF), in Monaco. This new festival starts in 2007, for a few days prior to the beginning of next year’s Cannes. Here’s some pics:

(Tuesday was about set-up all over the Croisette. Here are some workers putting the finishing touches on a ‘Variety’ magazine lounge at Cannes.)

(Looks like I scooped you here, One of the guest speakers at the IETFF launch party was actor Billy Zane. His fiancee, supermodel Kelly Brook, seemingly stayed home. But, actress Rachel Leigh Cook was on hand to describe why IETFF is a good thing for struggling international filmmakers. Like the guy who directed ‘She’s All That.’)

(The aforementioned Troy Poon, of MTV Films, outside a Monte Carlo casino. After the IETFF party, a group of us decided to make the most of our time in Monaco… which meant gambling, of course.)

(Former Paramount Classics buyer Susan Wrubel stops traffic at one of the tunnels in Monte Carlo. Wrubel rocks.)
