As I’ve discussed on a number of film festival panels over the years, its tough to devise the perfect email PR pitch. More often than not — sometimes even from seasoned professionals — indieWIRE receives a PR pitch that is too long, unfocused, or reflects lack of familiarity with our publication.

Today I received one of the clearest and most concise email pitches I’ve seen in awhile. So, I’m posting it below (leaving out some specific info) in case its of use to filmmakers or publicists (hint, hint):

Dear Eugene,

I just wanted to touch base before Cannes to make sure that we are sending COMPANY NAME’s Cannes news to the right person at Indiewire or if you would like us to send it to a specific email address for your Cannes dailies.

I also wanted to let you have my personal contact details in Cannes in case you need anything or want to talk to anyone from COMPANY NAME AND OTHER DETAILS.

Prior to Cannes…we will be sending you a release that will explain ANNOUNCEMENT TEASER. Hopefully when you get the release you will decide that it is strong enough for the news to run in the dailies on DATES.
