"Road to Guantanamo": This Weekend's Must-See

Last week, I blogged about the tragic suicides at Guantanamo and their strange timing with the release of Michael Winterbottom and Mat Whitecross’s “The Road to Guantanamo.” On Alternet today, I offer a review of the film and describe how it “shows just how easy it is for innocent young people to be swept up in the United States’ indiscriminate ‘war on terror’ and suffer the kinds of indignities that could lead someone to take his own life.”

The film opens not a moment too soon in some 15 theaters across the country on Friday. See the roll out schedule and venues list here. If all the Abu Ghraib pictures, the war documentaries and the subtle, fact-based effective artistry of the Guantamano movie doesn’t finally wake up Americans to the rampant torture and abuses of power committed by the Bush Regime, I just don’t know if anything will.
