Oscar Rules Changes

Oscar Rules Changes

Last week, governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences unveiled a number of changes. In the Foreign Language Film category, a new two-stage process will be implemented, allowing New York-based members of the Academy to participate. Earlier this year, the organization changed documentary section rules, adding the requirement of an eight-city theatrical release for feature-length docs. Nominees will be announced in January.
