As I prepare to move cross-country to Atlanta, there are a few final things I wanted to do in the Bay Area. As an addendum of sorts to Miguel Pendas’ VERTIGO tour of San Francisco, this weekend, while in Bodega Bay Seafood Festival, I made a point of visiting the two landmark locations from Hitchcock’s THE BIRDS.

The Tides Wharf Restaurant and parking lot in Bodega Bay were used for the gas station, cafe and boat dock scenes.

This aerial view of the Tides Wharf is a matte shot combined with footage shot on the studio lot. The actual landscape of Bodega Bay is significantly less developed. For starters, none of the other buildings exist. Just the road.
