Rolling Roadshow Rolls On

Rolling Roadshow Rolls On

Last summer, there was some blogging about the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema’s first-ever Rolling Roadshow tour of America. The crew from the legendary Austin theater hit the road for a series of outdoor screenings across the nation, all happening in the locales where the classic films were either inspired or actually filmed (in 2005, they included Goonies in Astoria and It Came From Outer Space in Roswell). This summer, the Alamo crew is back at it. Only now, Netflix has pitched in to help make it happen.

The lineup of films and destinations for this summer, is pretty impressive. If you happen to be in these areas (or are just a huge fanatic), try to make it for the shows. They’re free to public, and obviously a once-in-a-lifetime kind of event, many times including cast and crew from the films. Here’s the official Web site, with more details on how to attend. And, here’s the remaining tourdates:

August 8 – Clerks in Red Bank, NJ
August 10 – Ferris Bueller’s Day Off in Northbrook, IL
August 11 – Field of Dreams in Dyersville, IA
August 16 – The Shining in Estes Park, CO
August 18 – The Searchers in Monument Valley, UT
August 20 – Raising Arizona in Apache Junction, AZ
August 24 – Poseidon Adventure in Long Beach, CA
August 26 – Escape from Alcatraz in San Francisco, CA
