'The Fountain' Closes Fantastic Fest 2006

Fantastic Fest 2006 is over. It ended Thursday with the Closing Night film, Darren Aronofsky’s The Fountain. Check out Chris Holland’s photo of Aronofsky and AICN’s Harry Knowles, from the screening. During the post-screening Q&A, Aronofsky (who was joined by composer Clint Mansell) joked that he didn’t know whether to call his new film either “A psychedelic fairy tale” or “A metaphysical chick flick.” The film, starring Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz, opens natiowide on November 22. After the Q&A, attendees gathered at the Closing Night party, which included awards announcements. A full list of winners is to come, but the big champion of the night (collecting an armful of trophies) was Simon Rumley’s The Living and the Dead.
