As you can imagine, my eyebrows raised a bit yesterday when it was reported that the Big Island of Hawaii was rocked with a major earthquake. My eyebrows raised even higher, because I’m leaving for that very destination in a few days, to attend the Louis Vuitton Hawaii International Film Festival. Sympathetic to festival organizers everywhere, I was just concerned that a good deal of preparation done by this popular festival, would be in jeopardy. So, I checked in with programmers Anderson Le and Christian Razukas, to see what was up. And, happily, they reported that all is good on their end.
“We’re all good! Back to normal this morning! There was no power yesterday, so lots of backyard BBQs! Power went back on last night and everything’s back to normal,” emailed Le.
“The quake was scary, but so deep, 28 miles underground, that it did not do much damage,” Razukas agreed. “The blackout is the most annoying part!”
So, there you have it, all systems are go for this week’s launch of Hawaii’s biggest annual film event.
