Greetings from sunny Santa Monica! I’ve been in the L.A. area this week for our annual November meetings, centered around the American Film Market and the AFI Fest. It’s been a busy few days (hence the lack of blogging), full of nonstop meetings and screenings. And driving. Lots of driving. I haven’t even made it to the Amoeba record store yet, and that should show just how preoccuppied I’ve been. Did make it to a “going out of business” sale at a nearby Tower Records and picked up some “best-of” compilations for The Buzzcocks and Del Tha Funky Homosapien. Who knows if I’ll make it to Amoeba, despite its next-door proximity to all the goings-on at AFI Fest.
Otherwise, our AFM panel on film festivals seemed to be a success. Meetings with the likes of Fox Atomic, Fox Searchlight, Endeavor, Universal, and more, have been really enjoyable. And, the weather (except for some hot afternoons) has been really pleasant. Tonight, the SXSW Music Festival is having a cocktail party, so I need to run and finish some meetings beforehand. More later, and maybe some photos.
