IDFA 2006.1: The Flying Dutchman

(I love this airport, arguably one of the coolest. It’s the Schiphol in Amsterdam, minutes upon arriving).

Just got to Amsterdam. For some reason, I didn’t realize my flight was arriving at 8:30 a.m. which means I can’t check into my hotel for a few hours. So, I dropped off my bags and headed for De Balie, the big hang-out spot at IDFA. On the flight, I watched Love Actually and Talladega Nights. God, that movie is hilarious. I kept wondering if audiences watch it now, and realize they’re looking at the man who would be Borat, playing Will Ferrell’s foil. Soon, I was asleep but within an hour or so, I was awake again to find Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, which I’d never seen. Orlando Bloom? Not as a funny. It’s good, though, to get a sugar-rush of Hollywood features before I dive headfirst into a sea of European documentaries.
