Underworld Preps Score for New Minghella Film

Underworld Preps Score for New Minghella Film

Ever wondered what happened to Brit electronica outfit, Underworld? (well, I did) There’s been no new album since 2002, and just a few Internet-only songs over the last few years. They’ll return, sort of, to the record-releasing fold with the score for Anthony Minghella’s new drama, Breaking & Entering. Unlike previous soundtrack contributions for the early work of Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, The Beach, etc.), this a full-fledged score, made in collaboration with longtime Minghella composer Gabriel Yared. Billboard has the full scoop:

V2 has set a Dec. 5 release date for the soundtrack to the Anthony Minghella film “Breaking & Entering,” which was assembled by U.K. electronic duo and composer Gabriel Yared (“Cold Mountain,” “The English Patient”). The movie, which stars Jude Law and Juliette Binoche, opens Dec. 8 in limited U.S. release.

“Anthony has been a wonderful man to work with: very open-minded and generous of spirit,” group member Karl Hyde previously told Billboard.com about the collaboration. “He encouraged [Underworld’s] Rick [Smith] and me to do whatever we wanted to do.”
