SF360: SF Film Critics Circle announces awards

The San Francisco Film Critics Circle chose “Little Children” as its Best Picture of 2006. The group, made up of 23 film critics from around the Bay Area, gave Best Foreign Language Film honors to Guillermo del Toro‘s “Pan’s Labyrinth” in its annual year-end awards meeting Monday evening in downtown San Francisco. Best Director went to Paul Greengrass for “United 93.” And the Best Documentary award went to “An Inconvenient Truth,” directed by Davis Guggenheim. Sacha Baron Cohen won Best Actor for his improvisational work as international news gatherer “Borat.” Helen Mirren was given Best Actress for her embodiment of Queen Elizabeth II in Stephen Frears‘ “The Queen.” Susan Gerhard on the full list of picks from the SF Film Critics Circle in SF 360.
