That’s the Spirits

That's the Spirits

We wanted to take a moment and congratulate the SXSW alumni who found themselves nominated for 2007 Independent Spirit Awards (a.k.a. the indie Oscars). For the “John Cassavetes Award,” SXSW 2005 hit Four Eyed Monsters is nominated along with SXSW 2006 selection Old Joy. On “Best First Screenplay,” Gabrielle Zevin is nominated for SXSW 2006 title Conversations with Other Women. The “Best Cinematography” award will pit two SXSW alumni against each other: Arin Crumley for Four Eyed Monsters and Anthony Dod Mantle for Brothers of the Head. Another face-off of SXSW alumni happens in the “Best Documentary” category, as SXSW 2006 competition doc My Country, My Country will do battle against SXSW 2005 premiere, You’re Gonna Miss Me. Congratulations to all of the nominees, and best of luck come February 24, 2007.
