This year’s list of top ten Canadian films, as determined by a 10-member panel of filmmakers, journalists, programmers and industry professionals are: Sahah Polley’s “Away from Her,” Philippe Falardeau’s “Congorama,” Robert Favreau’s “Un Dimanche a Kigali,” Zacharias Kunuk and Norman Chohn’s “The Journals of Knud Rasmussen,” Jennifer Baichwal’s “Manufactured Landscapes,” Reginald Harkema’s “Monkey Warfare,” Gary Burns and Jim Brown’s “Radiant City,” Robert Stewart’s “Sharkwater,” Noel Mitrani’s “Sur La Trace D’Igor Rizzi,” and Mike Clattenburg’s “Trailer Park Boys the Movie.” Established in 2001 by the TIFFG, Canada’s Top Ten is an annual event devoted to celebrating and raising awareness of Canadian cinema. The Top Ten films are chosen from features, shorts, documentaries, animation, and experimental films. Each film must have either premiered at a major Canadian film festival or obtained a commercial theatrical release in Canada in 2006. “This year has been phenomenal for Canadian cinema both critically and commercially,” said Piers Handling, Director and CEO, Toronto International Film Festival Group. “The diversity of genres and subjects featured in Canada’s Top Ten highlight the extraordinary filmmaking talent in this country.” For more information, visit their website.
