Okay, the iPhone is cool…but the product that will send waves through the online-video business is the newly-announced Apple TV. Five computers can be hooked in, along with wireless connections, to make a central hub of video watching and sharing. All on your television set. The quality of the picture may not be up to 1080i standards (like your trusty HD TV), but it will still take off and be a huge sensation. The implications of Apple TV are greater than the video iPod, because Apple TV has two, before-unreliable components: social networking and the utility of common household appliances. Anyone who thought an iPod (much less a video iPod) was too advanced, should have no trouble getting hooked to Apple TV. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but soon. Just watch.
