Documentaries to Remain at the Heart of Sundance

After the Sundance Film Festival ends, even the best documentaries find it hard to land lucrative commercial distribution deals. Regardless of success in the market, Sundance has renewed its commitment to keep the nonfiction genre at the forefront of the festival by showing the documentary “Chicago 10” as its opening film. “By opening the festival with this film, we really are making a statement about the importance of documentaries,” Robert Redford said at a news conference.
