Experimental Work Given a New Venue at Sundance

Sundance has created a new venue for Experimental film. In addition to the New Frontier program, a venue called New Frontier on Main features site-specific film and video projects ranging from visual collages to live multimedia performances. “[Sundance festival Director Geoff Gilmore] and I had been talking for a while about the need for Sundance to develop more strongly and more muscularly an alternative programming that incorporated an underground aesthetic,” said Sundance senior programmer Shari Frilot. “It dawned on us … that this was a direction we should start really pointing our guns.” Scott Renshaw reports.
