First Look and Weinsteins Get "Dedication"

The Weinstein Company and First Look Pictures have confirmed their joint worldwide rights acquisition of Justin Theroux‘s “Dedication” from Plum Pictures. The romantic comedy is described as “a love story in which a misanthropic, emotionally complex author of a hit children’s book series (Billy Crudup) is forced to team with a beautiful illustrator (Mandy Moore) after his best friend and creative collaborator (Tom Wilkinson) passes away.” It also stars Bob Balaban and Dianne Weist and was written by David Bromberg. The two companies will partner on the worldwide release of the movie. The deal was negotiated by TWC’s Harvey Weinstein and Michelle Krumm from TWC and by First Look’s Henry Winterstern, Stuart Ford and Ruth Vitale. Plum Pictures was repped by Cinetic Media and UTA. Plum Pictures’ partners Celine Rattray, Galt Niederhoffer and Daniela Taplin Lundberg also sold their Sundance entry “Grace Is Gone” to TWC. [Eugene Hernandez]
