More Good News for Del Toro

One week after opening to massive limited-release box office, Guillermo Del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth was named the best film of 2006, by the National Society of Film Critics. This is a one-two punch that has Pan’s riding a great wave of momentum into the new year. Hopefully this is just the beginning, with optimists crossing their fingers for several Oscar nominations and bigger & better ticket sales. The film completely deserves it, as one of the most imaginative and beautiful films you could see in a movie theater today. And, it’s also great news for Guillermo Del Toro, who (after years of near-misses) seems to have finally found solid footing within the Hollywod system.
