IFC First Take Eyes May Release for "Day Night Day Night" in U.S.

North American rights to Julia Loktev‘s drama “Day Night Day Night” has been acquired by day and date banner IFC First Take, which is eyeing a May 9 release, IFC Entertainment announced Thursday. The film, which is nominated for two Film Independent Spirit Awards, including best first feature and the Someone to Watch Award, is the story of a “young woman, frail, beautiful, but also excruciatingly withdrawn and isolated, as she arrives in New York on a mysterious mission of extreme social significance.” IFC’s Arianna Bocco negotiated the deal with Loktev and Pierre Menahem of Scalpel Films. “Julia Loktev is an exciting new talent with an emotionally engaging first feature that captivates audiences with the raw portrayal of a darker side of human nature,” commented IFC Entertainment president Jonathan Sehring in a statement. “The film’s wide acclaim is well deserved and we’re very excited to add it to the IFC First Take
release slate.” [Brian Brooks]
