I really can’t tell if this was a publicity stunt to attract business, or if these people in Cocoa Beach, Florida are for real. Not every company would try to have a fundraiser for someone with fairly solid accusations of attempted murder. Reportedly, the owners of Silvestro’s Italian restaurant in Cocoa Beach decided to donate all the proceeds from Sunday night’s business to support astronaut Lisa Nowak. Nowak, you may recall, was recently arrested for driving from Texas to Florida carrying household weapons while wearing an adult diaper (to prevent her from stopping along the way and wasting time). Check it out:
Nowak, a NASA astronaut, was arrested last week on attempted murder charges after allegedly attacking a perceived romantic rival in an Orlando International Airport parking lot.
Even as FLORIDA TODAY message boards lit up with protesters and naysayers, questioning the restaurant for supporting a “criminal,” the restaurant expected to fill reservations for 70 by the end of the night, [restaurant co-owner] Bless said. The restaurant seats 75.
“We’re pretty much at capacity,” Bless said, adding that he usually seats about 30 guests on a typical Sunday night.
