Boston 2007.2: Where Everybody Knows Your Name…

Boston 2007.2: Where Everybody Knows Your Name...

It’s Saturday morning, I’m watching the NFL Draft coverage on ESPN, and prepping to head over to Somerville soon. I’m on a panel at 2:30, something about non-theatrical distribution… or something. After that, it’s some screenings and some relaxing. I finally caught Julia Loktev’s Day Night Day Night last night (after missing it throughout the year). It was totally worth the wait, truly gripping and emotional and smart. And, the sound design/mix? Crazy great. Okay, let’s just get to some pictures:

(The excellent view of Boston from my hotel room.)

(In the Filmmakers Lounge, a heated Connect Four rivalry brewed between ‘Quiet City’ producer Brendan McFadden, left, and ‘Silver Jew’ director Michael Tully.)

(‘Day Night Day Night’ star Luisa Williams attended the post-screening Q&A Friday. She’s a revelation in the film, a real star on the horizon.)

(Myself with ‘Kamp Katrina’ ko-director David Redmon, at a reception on Friday night.)

(Noami Greenfield, left, and Sara Taksler are the co-directors of the charming and funny documentary, ‘Twisted: A Balloonamentary.’ Just like they did at SXSW in March, they have covered the town with balloon art.)

(Yet another SXSW 2007 premiere was making its splash in Boston this weekend. Here’s the team from ‘Quiety City:’ co-stars Erin Fisher and Cris Lankenau, producer Brendan McFadden, and director Aaron Katz.)
