In an email sent to friends and colleagues late last week, Stuart Ford announced that he is leaving First Look International to launch a new unnamed international sales and distribution company that will be based in Los Angeles and London.
Ford added, in the email message, that the company will be backed by Intermedia Films. Joining Ford at the new company from First Look will be Ruzanna Kegeyan and Tim Grohne (sales), Catherine Quantschnigg (operations), Bonnie Voland (publicity and marketing, Stephanie Klein (business and legal affairs) and Amal ElWardi (executive assistant), Ford said in the email that was widely circulted in the industry. Ford added in the note, “We’ll be adding a slew of bigger budget, new Intermedia titles to our existing slate of films, which of course we are proudly taking with us to the new venture. No doubt, it will be an exciting process marrying our current business with the output from Martin Schuermann, Scott Kroopf, and the rest of the Intermedia team.”
Citing an amicable split from First Look, Ford said that the new company would begin business on Monday, April 16th with an announcement of the name and Cannes slate due soon.
