"Monastery" and "Devil" Each Win 2 Prizes at Full Frame Doc Fest

The 10th annual Full Frame Documentary Film Festival came to a close today in Durham, NC with Pernille Rose Gronkjaer‘s “The Monastery” winning both the grand jury award and the Charles E. Guggenheim Emerging Artist Award. Annie Sundberg and Ricki Stern‘s “The Devil Came on Horseback” also won two prizes, including the Working Films Award to support developing an outreach film for the film and the Seeds of War prize, sponsored by Walter Mosley and shared with Jesse James Miller and Pete McCormack‘s “Uganda Uprising.”

Sean Fine and Andrea Nix Fine‘s “War/Dance” won the festival’s audience award, while the Center for Documentary Studies Filmmaker Award went to Kaoru Ikeya‘a “The Ants” and the Full Frame Spectrum Award for a filmmaker of color went to Marco Williams for “Banished,” while Heddy Honigman‘ “Forever” won the Full Frame Inspiration Award (with an honorable mention going to Tony Kaye‘s “Lake of Fire.” Mohammed Naqvi‘s “Shame” won the Full Frame Women in Leadership Award and Daniel Karslake‘s “For The Bible Tells Me So” won the Kathleen Bryan Edwards Award for Human Rights. Elizabeth Salgado‘s “Cross Your Eyes Keep Them Wide” won the jury award for best short at the festival and Bent-Jorgen Perlmutt‘s “Lumo” won the Full Frame President’s award. [Eugene Hernandez]
