iW NEWS | Handmade, Impact Make "Good Friday"

Handmade Films and Impact Pictures announced that they will partner in the production of the contemporary US remake of 1980 British crime thriller, “The Long Good Friday.” Paul W.S. Anderson (“Resident Evil“) will write and directed the reported $50 million production. Patrick Meehan and Jeremy Bolt will co-produce. Casting takes place during the fall, and production will begin in Miami next summer. The deal was negotiated by Meehan and Michael Ryan for Handmade Films.

“The original was a highly praised classic and one of HandMade’s most prized films, but its reach was limited primarily to the UK,” said Meehan in a statement. “Following continued interest from the US, we realized this remake could attract audiences worldwide with an updated setting and contemporary overtones.”
