Central Station” director Walter Salles has joined on to co-produce Argentine director Pablo Trapero‘s (“Rolling Family“) upcoming project, tentatively titled “Misencounter,” Korea-based Cineclick Asia announced Thursday. Trapero’s fifth feature, the film is the story of a beautiful university girl who accidentally kills her two male lovers and gives birth to a son in prison. Production is set to begin in Argentina in September and is slated for completion early next year.

“It’s very exciting for me to work with a company like this one,” said Trapero in a statement. “They love auteurist movies. They take risks. I’m proud about this first-time commitment between distant countries like these ones joining together in this adventure.” The film is the first joint project between Asia and South America.

In other Cineclick Asia news, the company’s Siddiq Barmak (“Osama“) has started directing his next film “Opium War,” which began shooting April 30 in the filmmaker’s native Afghanistan, while Australian comedy “Lucky Miles,” by debut director Michael James Rowland, will screen in competition at the 42nd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
