A.J. Schnack’s festival circuit favorite (and SXSW 2007 selection), Kurt Cobain About A Son, has some soundtrack details handy, courtesy of Pitchfork. The artful documentary, built around Cobain’s final extensive audio interview, will see a release later this year. The soundtrack, though, will see the light of day on September 11, courtesy of Pacific Northwest super-indie label Barsuk.
For those who haven’t seen the film, it may come as a surprise that there are no Nirvana tunes on the album. But, for those of us who have seen it, there are no such songs in the film (some of the doc’s Cobain soundbites will be featured on the disc). A.J. has said many times that the song selection for the film is arranged more like Cobain’s presumed iPod playlist of personal anthems. Check out the tracklist, over on Pitchfork.
