AFP: Canada moves to curb film piracy

The aroma of buttery popcorn wafted through the halls of Canada’s parliament Friday as Heritage Minister Bev Oda unveiled new rules to curb movie pirating, bowing to Hollywood pressure to act. Amendments to the Criminal Code would make it illegal to videotape movies in a cinema and distribute copies for commercial gain, punishable by two years and fives in jail, respectively.
