Periodically, I receive questionaires from the Motion Picture Association of America. The polls always start innocently enough with queries about my moviegoing habits and why I hate going to movie theaters because the price of tickets and concessions are too high and the annoying ads which turn the experience into a capitalist headache. But then they always drift off into an insidiously brainwashing arena, with questions about piracy. I find the whole enterprise slightly “1984”ish, as they try to make people feel guilty about doing things that they believe are illegal, but in a society based on the free exchange of ideas, should not be.
