Take a break from Lohangate, and check out what is easily the best music video of the week (month? year?). Comedian Zach Galifianakis and singer/songwriter Will Oldham co-star in this insanely amusing video for the Kanye West track, “Can’t Tell Me Nothin’.” Take notes, because this is how it’s done. Thanks to Comedy Central Insider for the diligent heads up.
UPDATE: Turns out this amazing video was directed by none other than SXSW favorite, Michael Blieden, director of SXSW 2005 premiere The Comedians of Comedy, featuring Galifianakis. Blieden is also known as “Melvin” in Bob Odenkirk’s SXSW 2003 award-winner, Melvin Goes to Dinner, which Blieden adapted from his own play. I emailed with Blieden tonight and he sounds like he’s had a very busy and exciting day as a result of this video’s launch. According to him, it looks like today’s events will lead to some big music video jobs in near future. More on some of that exciting news, as it becomes official.
Plus, Billboard has just now published an article explaining how this music video came to be. Turns out Kanye is a big Galifianakis fan.
