Emerging Visions Class of 2007: Stefan Schaefer ('Arranged')

I’ve asked the filmmakers from the SXSW 2007 “Emerging Visions” section to give us all an update on their projects. Keep an eye out for more updates to come. Today, we have Stefan Schaefer, the co-director of the cultural romantic drama Arranged (which appears to have some cool acquisition news out of its premiere during SXSW 2007):

Following SXSW, Arranged screened at the Berkshire Int’l Film Festival, where it won the Best of Fest Audience Award, and at the Brooklyn International Film Festival, where it won the top two prizes – the Grand Chameleon for Best Film and the Best Narrative Feature Film award. We just closed a distribution deal for North America with Film Movement, which first saw the film at SXSW. The film will open at the Quad Cinema in New York City on Dec. 14th, with a rollout to other markets and regional festivals in early 2008. We’re currently negotiating with a foreign sales outfit that hopes to take the film to AFM and Cannes.
