David Redmon and Ashley Sabin’s acclaimed documentary, Kamp Katrina, will get itself a theatrical run in New York very very soon. The absorbing and smart nonfiction look at a community salvaging their lives post-Katrina in New Orleans, has had a successful festival run which kicked off in earnest with a world premiere at SXSW 2007. And, on August 23, it will screen at MoMA in New York, followed by a week-long run at popular NYC arthouse, The Pioneer Theatre. The Pioneer engagement is scheduled for August 24 to September 2. In addition, they’ve booked the doc at various indie cinemas around the country, including Facets in Chicago (Aug. 31 to Sept. 6) and Clinton Street in Portland (Sept. 14 to 20). Soon after, David and Ashley will release the documentary on DVD (with an announcement about that coming soon). Be there!
