Real to Reel Gets Really Real

Real to Reel Gets Really Real

Congratulations to Toronto International Film Festival documentary programmer Thom Powers, for unveiling another exciting lineup of nonfiction films for September’s Canuck event. The “Real to Reel” section is always a great breeding ground for new documentary work, and this year highlights all things a doc program should include: festival circuit darlings (Silverdocs winner Please Vote For Me, Sundance crowd-pleaser My Kid Could Paint That), pop culture essays (Surfwise, Hollywood Chinese, Obscene), political examinations (Body of War, Iron Ladies of Liberia), masters at work (new films Werner Herzog, Kevin McDonald, among others), and even more than all that. Get the full “Real to Reel” lineup here, including descriptions of each film.
