The Toronto "Doc Blog" is Back

One of the best ideas, from one of my favorite film festivals, is back. The Toronto International Film Festival has relaunched the blogs area of its Web site. Different sections of the festival will be represented with their own blog, which is brilliant as both a means of staying interactive with the public and also helping promote some of the films in need of an extra push amongst the big celeb premieres at TIFF. Colin Geddes has one, Cameron Bailey has one, and so does doc programmer Thom Powers.

Documentaries and blogs go together like Albert and David Maysles (on second thought…), so it’s only fitting to highlight the TIFF Doc Blog as a great destination. Thom peppers the festival updates with worthwhile information regarding the doc landscape as a whole. Oh, plus Thom asked me to contribute to this week’s blog and directed folks here. If I didn’t publish this shout-out, I would be haunted by bad-blogger karma. Karma be damned, stay tuned to the TIFF blogs as we gear up for next month’s festivities in the Great White North.
