I’ve been occasionally tracking the progress of Ben Stiller’s next directorial effort, Tropic Thunder, which is currently shooting in Hawaii. He could make a million Nights at the Museum but I will always follow Stiller when he lends himself to adult comedies. This new film (due Summer 2008) features a cast that is worth noting, too. It’s got Stiller, Jack Black, Owen Wilson, Robert Downey Jr., Justin Theroux, and Danny McBride. It’s about a group of actors on a war-film production gone awry. It’s a comedy. Nuff said, I’m there. But, today, the MTV Movies Blog serves up this “interesting” tidbit from co-star and co-writer Theroux about the possible inclusion of one Mr. Tom Cruise. Considering Cruise and Stiller are friends, it doesn’t shock me. But, does this mean Tropic Thunder has gotten cooler? I mean, Cruise is only one hit away from being in America’s good graces again, but can he keep up with the kind of comedy gymnastics his co-stars will surely deliver?
